Three men. One, a king anointed by God. The second, his son and heir. The third, a shepherd and the youngest of his father’s children. An epic story of kings and servants, anger and peace, parents and children, friends and enemies. And above all else, it is a story of love. The kind of real love that God hopes to see from all of us. Sadness
Posted by Chris Taylor on March 7, 2008
WordPress has a feature called “Tag Surfer”. You can plug in any word, and it will pull up blogs on WordPress that people have written using that tag.
So I have used christianity, scripture, evangelical, calvinism, arminianism.
Today, I used “SAD”.
Wow, there is a lot of truly sad people out there. As a person who cares deeply for people, I have found that this really bothers me. To see their posts and to hear their anguish is maddening. What do you “say” to someone that is hurting in cyberspace? To say, “my prayers are with you”, sounds contrived and shallow to my own ears. To say, “It will get better” rings with falsehood.
There are a lot of hurting people out there. And as Christians we’ve done a poor (horrible) job of reaching a lot of them. Some of them don’t want prayers. Some of them don’t want a christian to reach out to them. But I bet a majority of them do.
So, I leave a small note and 2 verses from Romans.
Romans 8:38-39
38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Prayer:
Father, I pray you’ll help us reach those that are hurting. Father, I pray that those that are hurting will reach out for help and those that are nearest will respond. God, your love for us is amazing and humbling. Thank you so much for loving us. We know that you don’t promise us all good days, or freedom from tribulation. But you do promise us that you will love us and keep us with you. Thank you so much. Amen.
In Christ,
Chris
