To people who do not see, and do not hear

Posted by Chris Taylor on December 29, 2008

There are many people who refuse to acknowledge God…those who refuse to see God’s handiwork.

Those who refuse to hear the message that God is proclaiming.

Are you one of them?

Here is another work of God proclaiming His glory and authority.   Calling us to turn back to Him and worship Him in spirit and truth.

Then the disciples came and asked Jesus, “Why do you speak to them in parables?”

Jesus said, “The reason I speak to them in parables is that ’seeing they do not perceive, and hearing they do not listen, nor do they understand.’

With them indeed is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah that says: ‘You will indeed listen, but never understand, and you will indeed look, but never perceive.

For this people’s heart has grown dull, and their ears are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes; so that they might not look with their eyes, and listen with their ears, and understand with their heart and turn– and I would heal them.’

But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear.  (Matthew 13:10, 13-16)

The signs are all around us all the time.  Some are big, but most are small.  Look and listen…pray for eyes to see, and ears to hear.

Would you be able to hold onto faith if…

Posted by Chris Taylor on December 3, 2008

…you lived in a city surrounded by enemy soldiers  and you knew it was only a matter of time?

…you watched the invaders storm through the broken gates and slaughter your friends?

…enemy soldiers rampaged your home and raped your wife and daughters?

…an enemy soldier grabbed your son and tortured him to death?

…an enemy soldier placed his sword at your throat and asked you if you were a Christian, or a Jew?

…you were placed into a concentration camp, starved and beaten?

…your friends, spouse, children were marched into gas chambers while you had to watch?

…you were forced to watch helpless children were beaten and raped?

…God didn’t answer your pleas for help in such a time?

Children’s Ministry in Need

Posted by Chris Taylor on December 1, 2008

There is a Children’s Ministry here in Murfreesboro, TN that is in desperate need this holiday season (actually, all year).  Due to the economic slow down and generally tough time, charitable donations are down across the country.  During these uncertain times, people (myself included) tend to hold on to money because of fear.  Fear of losing a job, fear of not being able to pay bills, etc.  When we start holding onto our money, we start handicapping organizations that depend on donations.

So, with that in mind, our family has decided that enough is enough.  We’ve decided that today’s presents turn into tomorrow’s junk and clutter.  Not always, but often.

Today we are adopting a ministry in need.  Helping those who are helping others.  Instead of spending money on gifts for our family, we hope to provide a boost to people in need.

For us, I think we’re going to “adopt” this ministry and help out as best we can.

Will you consider doing the same?  It doesn’t have to be this particular ministry, but look around where you are.  Every charitable ministry seems to be struggling right now, opportunities for assistance abound.

If you feel led to give, here is the website for the Murfreesboro Good Shepherd’s Children Home.  Take a look around and give if you can.  Or if you want to give to something more local, contact your local churches to see where the needs are.

God Bless you and yours this Christmas.
